Anegadian businessman and son sentenced on drugs- related charges

At the conclusion of a drugs-related matter at the Magistrateís Court on Friday 8 December, Aubrey Levons, age 49, Anthony Lyrill "Bradshaw" Brown, age 40, and Homberto Chavez, age 46, of Venezuela were each convicted and sentenced to serve eight years imprisonment at Her Majesty's Prisons on charges of importation of 832 pounds of cocaine, and being concerned with the unlawful supply of cocaine into the Territory, and unlawful possession of cocaine.

According to police sources also convicted was Gregory Levons, age 22, son of Aubrey Levons. He was sentenced to six years imprisonment. The police press department noted that the above named convicts were first arrested on Sunday, 25 April 1999, along with the wife of Aubrey Levons, Dianne Levons, Freddy Mendez, age 34, also of Venezuela, and Ivan Hodge of Cane Garden Bay, who was recently acquitted on all counts of the charges.

Since then, charges filed against Mrs Levons were dismissed by the Magistrateís Court on 6 September 2000, while the other accomplice Freddy Mendez absconded while out on bail during the month of April 2000.
