Two Men held In Connection With McNamara Robbery

At 11:30pm on Tuesday 25 April, Road Town police received a report of an armed robbery at a local business place in the McNamara area. According to a police press release, detectives rushed to the scene while a police sawt team of over 15 police officers, headed by Police Commissioner Vernon Malone carried out an extensive island search for two armed, masked men who reportedly entered the said business place and robbed the owner of cash and jewelry worth over $1,254. The same source indicated that another victim was reportedly manhandled and beaten with a gun butt, resulting in him receiving facial injuries. He was subsequently taken to Peebles Hospital where he was treated and discharged. In less than 45 minutes, Commissioner Malone and police converged on a red Chevrolet motor car which was seen in the Road Town area, and arrested two men who are now in police custody assisting in the vinvestigation. A search was also carried out on the suspect’s vehicle and a number of articles was taken into police custody along with the said vehicle.
